SRH vs LSG is the second time both franchises are meeting in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. It is a must-win for both teams, as a defeat will be curtains for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), who have won just four games this season. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants have 11 points from as many games this season.
Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, will host the match on Saturday at 3:30 PM.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
SRH has been let down by their batters this season. The experienced batters Mayank Agarwal, Aiden Markram, and Rahul Tripathi made just 603 runs between them. Heinrich Klaasen, who has a strike rate of 185 this season, has made a few excellent starts but couldn’t convert them into match-winning knocks. Also, opening batter Abhishek Sharma couldn’t replicate last season’s performances.
The bowling department steadily improved its performances as the season progressed. But the pacers – Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Marco Jansen, and T Natarajan – failed to pick up wickets consistently. Meanwhile, Umran Malik has been a major disappointment, picking up just five wickets at an economy of 10.35 in seven matches. Mayank Markande is the only SRH bowler to have taken more than ten wickets this season.
Lucknow Super Giants
The top-class LSG batting unit is expected to deliver a quality performance in Hyderabad on Saturday. Quinton de Kock-Kyle Mayers pair will hope to punish the SRH bowling, which hasn’t been up to the mark this season. The middle order – Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, and Ayush Badoni – has quality batters who can do the anchor role to perfection.
Overseas-less LSG bowling unit was at the receiving end against Gujarat Titans last week. It would be interesting to see if the franchise brings Naveen-ul-Haq back to the playing 11. Domestic pacers Mohsin Khan and Avesh Khan, who have picked up 32 wickets between them, will be keen to deliver. The spin attack is reliable, and Ravi Bishnoi leads LSG’s wickets chart.
SRH vs LSG Head to Head
LSG has won both their fixtures against SRH in IPL. Krunal Pandya’s all-round efforts helped LSG ease past SRH in the last meeting between both sides.
