RR vs CSK is the second fixture between both teams this season. The inaugural IPL champions, Rajasthan Royals (RR), have lost their last two games, while Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are on an impressive run. The IPL match 37 will be played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Thursday at 7:30 PM.
Rajasthan Royals
RR’s experienced batters have struggled in the franchise’s last two games. Jos Buttler was dismissed for a duck, while Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer failed to rise to the occasion against Royal Challengers Bangalore last week. If the trio finds form, the Royals will be back to winning ways.
The RR bowling attack will rely on Trent Boult to provide breakthroughs in the powerplay. The Kiwi pacer has done it a couple of times this season. He has a quality bowling partner in Sandeep Sharma, who has taken seven wickets this season. Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal is six wickets away from becoming the highest wicket-taker in IPL. Chahal’s teammate Ravichandran Ashwin has taken six wickets at an economy of 7.07.
Chennai Super Kings
In red-hot form, Devon Conway is the player to watch out for in the CSK batting line-up. The left-handed batter has hit four consecutive half-centuries, while Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ajinkya Rahane, and Shivam Dube have hit two fifties each and made more than 650 runs between them. Once Ben Stokes, out with a toe injury, returns to the squad, CSK will be an even more formidable batting unit.
Tushar Deshpande has carried the CSK pace attack on his shoulders this season. The 27-year-old has 12 wickets, while young pacer Matheesha Pathirana, too, earned MS Dhoni’s trust with consistent performances. The spin department looks settled, with Ravindra Jadeja being the key figure. Also, Maheesh Theekshana is improving after each match.
