With just Rs 13.2 crore in their kitty, Rajasthan Royals had to make smart buys in the mini auction. Jason Holder emerged as the biggest signing. The ‘Men in Pink’ paid Rs 5.75 crore to secure the services of the West Indian all-rounder. Holder is one wicket away from reaching the 50-mark in IPL.
Adam Zampa, signed for Rs 1.5 crore, was Rajasthan Royals’ second-most expensive player in the auction. The Aussie, who has represented Rising Pune Supergiants and Royal Challengers Bangalore, is the only spinner to take a six-wicket haul in IPL. In the absence of Glenn Maxwell, Zampa captained Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League 2022-23 season.
Rajasthan Royals snapped up former England Test captain Joe Root at a base price of Rs 1 crore. Though Root isn’t part of England’s T20I setup, he has an excellent record in the 20-over format. The 32-year-old has scored more than 2000 runs at a strike rate of 126 in T20s.
