LSG vs MI is a clash between two teams who have occupied a spot in the top four in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have 13 points from 12 games and are placed fourth in the standings, while Mumbai Indians (MI) are third with 16 points, and a win will take them to second.
BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, will host the match on Tuesday at 7:30 PM.
Lucknow Super Giants
LSG has the most explosive opening pair in Quinton de Kock and Kyle Mayers. It is the franchise’s strength going into the crucial encounter with MI. If the duo gets off to a flier, the likes of Krunal Pandya, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, and Ayush Badoni can help build on the innings.
Pooran was instrumental in LSG’s win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) last week. He came into the crease when his team needed 57 off 27 balls. The left-handed batter made a 14-ball 44 and wrapped up the run chase with four balls to spare.
With the last three matches in Lucknow being low-scoring games, bowlers will have a key role to play on Tuesday. Yudhvir Singh was impressive in the victory over SRH, grabbing a wicket in the powerplay. The onus will be on the experienced spin trio of Ravi Bishnoi, Krunal Pandya, and Amit Mishra. Bishnoi and Krunal have picked up 20 wickets between them and have been economical this season.
Mumbai Indians
Will Suryakumar Yadav continue his heroics? The MI’s ever-reliable batter has amassed more than 400 runs in MI’s last seven matches. He has received excellent support from Ishan Kishan and Nehal Wadhera, who also are key batters in the MI playing 11. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma seems to be returning to form after a brisk 29 against Gujarat Titans (GT).
MI fast bowlers Akash Madhawal and Jason Behrendroff were outstanding against GT. Madhwal took two wickets in the powerplay and ended GT’s hopes with the wicket of David Miller in the 12th over. Piyush Chawla, one wicket away 20-mark this season, is crucial to MI’s hopes of an eighth win this term. He could make the difference on a pitch that has made life difficult for batters in the last few games.
LSG vs MI Head-to-Head
LSG has won both their fixtures against MI in IPL. The hosts will miss their skipper KL Rahul, who scored back-to-back hundreds against the Mumbai outfit last season.
