DC vs RCB is the reverse fixture between two teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. It is also the 50th match of the 16th edition. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by 23 runs at Chinnaswamy Stadium in the first meeting between the two franchises. RCB will aim for a sixth win, while DC has to pick up points to retain their slim playoff hopes.
Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, will host the match on Saturday at 7:30 PM.
Delhi Capitals
DC fans will be wondering what is ailing their top order after another flop show on Tuesday. All-rounder Aman Hakim Khan and bowlers came to their rescue against Gujarat Titans. The runs have stopped flowing from David Warner’s bat in the last few games. Meanwhile, overseas batters Phil Salt and Rile Roussouw had another outing to forget. Apart from Warner, none of the DC top-order batters crossed more than 150 runs this season.
DC pacer bowlers put on a show against the Titans. Khaleel Ahmed, Anrich Nortje, and Ishant Sharma took a wicket in the powerplay. The trio received excellent support from the spinners, who didn’t let the batters gain momentum in the match. Kuldeep Yadav leads the wicket DC’s wicket charts with eight wickets.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
If DC suffers from top-order woes, RCB desperately wants its middle-order to succeed. This season, the three-time runner-up has heavily relied on Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, and Glenn Maxwell. The likes of Dinesh Karthik, Shahbaz Ahmad, and Suyash Prabhudesai haven’t made an impact yet. Once the middle order starts firing, RCB will be among the strongest batting units in IPL 2023.
RCB’s bowling unit is bolstered by the return of Josh Hazlewood, who took 2/15 in Lucknow. Mohammed Siraj, who has 15 wickets so far, and the Aussie pacer make a brilliant duo. Spinners Wanindu Hasaranga and Karn Sharma took three wickets and were economical against Lucknow Super Giants. Harshal Patel, too, has managed to pick up wickets consistently.
DC vs RCB Head-to-Head
RCB has won 18 of the 29 meetings against DC in IPL. The Delhi-based outfit is winless in their last four fixtures against RCB. Virat Kohli and Vijaykumar Vyshak were the heroes of the recent meeting between both sides.
