CSK vs LSG is an exciting Indian Premier League (IPL) fixture. Both teams will be playing their second game this season. It is also the opening home game of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), while KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be visiting Chidambaram Stadium for the first time. The weekday clash promises plenty of thrilling moments.
The match is on April 3 and will be played under floodlights, beginning at 7:30 PM.
Chennai Super Kings Overview
CSK faces a stiff challenge against a team who beat them in a high-scoring outing last time. Shivam Dube and Moeen Ali shone with the bat in the match, while bowlers, except Dwaine Pretorius, had an evening to forget. The franchise is still without Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana. Both Sri Lankan players will only join the squad after April 8th.
Sisanda Magala, who replaced injured Kyle Jamieson, is expected to arrive after South Africa’s ODI series against the Netherlands on Sunday. However, he is unlikely to make it to the playing 11. The ‘Yellow Army’ fans will pray that the squad remains injury-free throughout the campaign, as CSK lost a few players before the season started.
Lucknow Super Giants Overview
LSG will be confident when it faces CSK, who the Lucknow outfit beat by six wickets last season. Quinton de Kock, KL Rahul, and Ravi Bishnoi were the chief architects in that victory at Brabourne Stadium. However, playing the four-time champions at their home presents a different challenge. De Kock is likely to feature against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 7.
Rahul will be keen to continue his impressive run against CSK in IPL. The LSG captain has hit four half-centuries in 11 innings and has a strike rate of 142.62 against the hosts. With CSK boasting a quality batting unit, Avesh Khan, Mark Wood, and Bishnoi have their task cut out. Compared to CSK, the bowling unit is inexperienced but has the necessary firepower.
CSK vs LSG Head-to-Head
Regarding the head-to-head record, LSG has a perfect history against CSK as the franchise debuted last season in IPL and won its lone meeting against CSK. In a high-scoring game, LSG chased down 211 with three balls to spare.
