India Senior Women’s T20 – Thrice Semi-finalists

In its first T20 World Cup appearance, India reached the last four. The then-Jhulan Goswami-captained side lost their tournament opener against England. But victories over Pakistan and Sri Lanka saw them reach the semi-final.

India defeated Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka and finished as the group winners.

The semi-final clash with England was abandoned, and India qualified courtesy of securing more points than England in the group stage. Australia was India’s opponent in the final. At MCG, Australia took revenge for the opening round loss and won its fifth World Cup title.

Former India captain Mithali Raj has scored the most runs by an Indian batter in the women’s T20 World Cup. Raj, who hit five half-centuries, has scored 726 runs at an average of 40. Harmanpreet Kaur is second on the list with 458 runs at a strike rate of 108.78. She is the only Indian batter to have a century in the T20 World Cup – 103 against New Zealand in the 2018 edition.

Indian Senior Women’s T20 2022

India women’s team had a few memorable moments in 2022. The biggest achievement was finishing with a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games cricket competition.
