IPL 2023 RCB squad is one of the most exciting teams to watch out for in the 16th edition. The franchise, which had a cash purse of only Rs 8.75 crore, made just two overseas buys and a couple of domestic players in the mini auction.
IPL 2023 RCB – New Arrivals
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) retained six of their eight overseas players from last season. West Indies batsman Sherfane Rutherford was let go along with uncapped domestic players Luvnith Sisodia, Chama Milind, and Aneeshwar Gautam.
Will Jacks won an Indian Premier League (IPL) contract after an impressive outing in Pakistan. The all-rounder grabbed a six-wicket haul and scored a couple of crucial runs on his Test debut. Jacks is joined by fellow Englishman Reece Topley, who is part of England’s white-ball setup. Topley was RCB’s first buy in the auction.
Uttarakhand pacer Rajan Kumar, Avinash Singh, Sonu Yadav, Himanshu Sharma, and Manoj Bhandage are four uncapped players bought by RCB during the IPL 2023 auction in Kochi.
IPL RCB Auction Expensive Buys
Will Jacks is RCB’s highest purchase in the auction. They secured the Englishman’s signature for Rs 3.2 crore. Jacks has scored more than 1200 runs at a strike rate of close to 154 in T20s in 2022. He also made a huge impression on his T20I and Test debuts.
RCB fought off interest from Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings to sign Reece Topley for Rs 1.9 crore. Topley is a like-for-like replacement for Jason Behrendorff, who was traded to Mumbai Indians. The pacer will join the likes of Josh Hazlewood, Mohammed Siraj, and England teammate David Willey.
Rajan Kumar was signed for Rs. 70 lakh, making him RCB’s third-most expensive purchase in this auction. The left-arm medium pacer was Uttarakhand’s top wicket-taker in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022, with six wickets in five outings.
